Understanding Our Independent Nurse Registry
Joining TLC Nurse Solutions is different from applying for a traditional nursing position.
As an independent nurse registry, TLC coordinates referrals rather than employing nurses for individual positions. Independent nurses maintain their professional independence and may accept or decline opportunities based on their qualifications, availability, geographic preferences, and professional interests.
Each referral is unique. Opportunities may involve ongoing one-on-one nursing care, specialized clinical services, short-term recovery support, healthcare facility coverage, infusion therapy, nurse case management, care coordination, hospital advocacy, or other professional nursing services beyond traditional bedside care.
Our Care Coordination team considers each client’s needs, requested schedule, location, clinical requirements, and available nursing expertise when discussing potential assignments.
Some nurses receive referrals shortly after completing registration, while others become part of our network for future opportunities. Referral availability varies, and assignments are not guaranteed.

Our role extends far beyond making an introduction. TLC Nurse Solutions invests considerable time, expertise, and resources into developing client and healthcare partnerships, recruiting and credentialing independent nurses, evaluating service requests, identifying appropriately qualified nursing professionals, coordinating schedules and ongoing coverage, facilitating communication among clients, families, nurses, and healthcare partners, maintaining administrative and documentation processes, managing invoicing and payments, and responding to changing needs throughout the course of care.
These responsibilities represent only part of the extensive work involved in developing, operating, and sustaining our statewide nurse registry. Behind every referral is an ongoing commitment to business development, relationship management, operational coordination, responsiveness, and continuity. Much of this work takes place before an assignment begins and continues well beyond the initial referral, helping create and sustain meaningful professional opportunities for independent nurses throughout California.
Independent nurses remain responsible for their own clinical practice, professional judgment, accurate documentation, appropriate communication, and the commitments they accept.
The professional relationships developed through TLC’s efforts are an important part of what makes these opportunities possible. We value those connections and believe they should be respected and supported by everyone participating in our network.
All services arising through TLC relationships, including additional nursing needs, expanded assignments, nurse case management, care coordination, hospital advocacy, and referrals involving family members or other individuals, are coordinated and billed through TLC. This ensures that new opportunities are handled with clear communication, appropriate arrangements, and continuity for clients and healthcare partners.
Independent nurses do not bill TLC-referred clients directly or establish separate payment arrangements for services arising through TLC relationships. We also recognize and respect nurses’ own established practices, clients, and professional relationships outside TLC.
Our intention is to foster lasting professional partnerships built on mutual respect, dependable coordination, shared accountability, and an appreciation for the relationships and efforts that benefit everyone involved.
